Provide power to satellite phones for the CLIMB WITH PRIDE-ACONCAGUA 2007 Team

The Challenge

• Light weight ( less than 1 kg, less is more!)
• To provide power under various weather conditions.
• Weather Resistant. To withstand harsh & demanding weather conditions.
• Modify & customise the SolarMio to power satellite phones within a limited time.
• IT MUST WORK. Their lives depend on it

The Solution

Communication is vital on such expeditions... so is weight. With these criteria, Solamas was approached to provide an alternative/ back-up to the proposed method of charging the satellite phones. However what began as a back-up plan eventually became the primary source of power for the satellite phones.

Solamas met the challenge and successfully came up with a solution. By modifying the original adapters (while still meeting the criteria needed for the trip) the satellite phones are now able to draw power from the SolarMios. Solamas further provided 2 additional SolarMios to ensure a constant power supply to the satellite phones.
